The new Predator movie, Badlands, has begun filming in New Zealand. Actress Elle Fanning will star in the production that will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, responsible for the previous 2022 film, Prey. According to the AVP Galaxy page, a casting call delivered the first synopsis of the film. The text, with the name of the project called by the codename Backpack, says: "A groundbreaking film in which one of the two main stories delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, whose family ties are put to the test as they follow divergent paths and missions."

In addition, the description of the twins also reveals a little of what we can expect from the characters, who will be played by the same actress, who in this case would be Fanning: Thia spent most of her life in a laboratory and “is setting off on her first big adventure in the world”. Her sister is called Tessa and “has a militant intensity” when it comes to achieving her goals and objectives. Previous sources stated that Amber Midthunder, the star of the previous film, could return to Badlands, but nothing has been confirmed and the film seems to be set in the future, changing the setting of The Hunt.

In addition to Trachtenberg, screenwriter Patrick Aison is also back. Both wrote the script for the new film. According to THR, this is the first of several projects in the franchise that will be directed by the filmmaker. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), The Predator: The Hunt stars Amber Midthunder (Legion), Dakota Beavers, and Dani DiLiegro. Midthunder plays the heroine of the story, which explores the first visit of a Predator to Earth. The narrative is set 300 years ago when a Native American warrior from the Comanche nation protects her tribe from the alien.

First introduced in 1987 with the classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers (1948-2024), the Predator has been the source of several films over the years, including the crossover Alien vs. Predator and, most recently in 2018, The Predator, by Shane Black.
