Tarantino has no desire to watch Toy Story 4, the reason? For the filmmaker, the story ended with the trilogy.
Quentin Tarantino/Toy Story |
Quentin Tarantino has clear ideas: he will never watch Toy Story 4 (2019). The famous American director, in a recent interview for the podcast Club Random with Bill Maher, explained his love for the animated franchise and the difficulties of completing a film trilogy satisfactorily.
Quentin Tarantino talks about the difficulties in creating sequels that live up to expectations, and compares Toy Story to the Dollar TrilogySpeaking of film sagas, Tarantino said he is a big fan of Pixar's Toy Story animated films. “I don’t watch all the animated films and stuff, but I’m a big fan of the Toy Story: trilogy. But I think there’s only one trilogy that works completely and fully, and that’s A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” the filmmaker revealed.
Speaking about what he admires about the trilogy directed by the legendary Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood, Tarantino said: “It manages to do what no other trilogy has ever managed to do. The first film is amazing, but the second film is so beautiful and manages to develop the idea on a bigger horizon that it basically obliterates the first. And then the third does the same thing with the second, and that’s something that basically never happens.”
Returning to the Toy Story trilogy, Tarantino revealed that he finds similarities with the Western trilogy in terms of qualitative advancement: “In the case of Toy Story, the third is really magnificent. It’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, it’s devastating. But here’s the thing: three years later or something, they came out with a fourth one, and I’m not going to watch it. You guys literally finished the movie on a high note, so no, I don’t care if it’s good. For me, that’s it.”
