The sequel to Beetlejuice, released 36 years after the original film, has set new box office records during its opening weekend. The film, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, along with a cast of new stars such as Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci, has been a great success.

Beetlejuice 2: How much did the film gross?

Beetlejuice is estimated to have taken in an estimated $41.5 million on its opening day, marking the second-best September opening in box office history, behind 2017's It. With an expected opening weekend of around $97 million, the film is on track to have the second-best September opening weekend ever, surpassed only by It.

The opening weekend result has already surpassed the total gross of the original 1988 film Beetlejuice, which earned around $75 million at the time. In terms of current value, the 2024 film could easily surpass the previous film's total by at least $20 million, giving it a major boost in profitability. Its success is especially significant considering its genre, a comedy that often doesn't perform as well as action or sci-fi blockbusters. Additionally, Beetlejuice is a blockbuster that plays on nostalgia.
