Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya to star in Christopher Nolan's new film

According to Deadline, with filming set to begin in early 2025, Christopher Nolan seems to have resolved his reservations about the main cast of his new film, of which neither the official title nor the plot is known. While in recent weeks the involvement of Matt Damon and Tom Holland in the project was made official, in the last few hours the two female protagonists of the film have been made known, namely Oscar winner Anne Hathaway and Zendaya, already co-star of Tom Holland in the Spider-Man saga as well as his better half in real life.

Anne Hathaway and Zendaya to star in Christopher Nolan's new film: project details and latest plot rumors

As previously mentioned, the plot of Christopher Nolan's new film is top secret for now. In recent weeks, however, the Production Weekly website has relaunched a particularly convincing rumor: the new project by the Oscar-winning director could be linked to Blue Thunder, a 1983 American action film directed by John Badham. According to the source, it would not be a true and proper direct remake but rather an original reinterpretation of the story in which the protagonists are two police officers (one an expert, the other considered a "rookie") belonging to the helicopter section of the New York City Police Department. The crux of the plot would be the creation of a super-technological helicopter, equipped with a very dangerous artificial intelligence sought by a group of terrorists.

Pending official confirmation, Christopher Nolan's new film is expected in theaters on July 17, 2026, and will once again be branded Universal Pictures, the studio with which the British director marked his first collaboration (after years of partnership with Warner Bros.) by making Oppenheimer, a film centered on the life of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer with which he won the first Oscars of his career (best director and best film as a producer). If for Tom Holland and Zendaya, this is the first project with the acclaimed British director, the same cannot be said for Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway who have already shared the set of a Nolan film on the occasion of Interstellar.
