Barry Keoghan, known for his work on The Eternals (2021) and The Batman (2022), will play drummer Ringo Starr in biopics of each of the four members of the legendary Liverpool rock band The Beatles. Ringo himself confirmed this in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. The project is a four-film series told from the perspectives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. The interconnected stories will reportedly depict the trajectory of the band leading up to its breakup in 1970.
The film is expected to be released worldwide in 2027, with funding and distribution by Sony Pictures. The director and producer is Sam Mendes, who worked on "Skyfall" (2012) and "1917" (2019). It is attracting attention as a full-scale project with the full cooperation of the Beatles for the use of their songs in the film and events that occurred in the lives of the four members. Regarding Corgan playing his own character, Ringo answered frankly, "I think it's great. I think he's taking drum lessons somewhere. I hope he doesn't have too many."
Corgan, an undisputed popular actor, is in the film version of the drama "Peaky Blinders" (2013-2022) starring Cillian Murphy, and when asked about his comeback in the sequel to "The Batman," he gave a suggestive answer, saying, "My smile says it all." Corgan always leaves an impression with a strong personality, but he also has a certain cuteness to him, so he is likely to play the mischievous role of Ringo well.
There have been many speculations about the cast of this film, including Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney. Keoghan was also rumored to be playing Ringo. The actors playing the other three are also of great interest. Regarding the Beatles, a new documentary titled "The Beatles '64," produced by master director Martin Scorsese, will soon be available on Disney+. Be sure to check out the trajectory of the four members, whose timeless brilliance still shines after 60 years.
