"Morbius" (2022) and "Madame Web" (2024)... Will Sony Pictures' Marvel movies, which have struggled, change their attitude? The director of the new series "Kraven the Hunter" is calling on people to forget about the recent results and support the movie with a new attitude. Sony Pictures' Marvel movie series, which is developing Spider-Man-related character movies, has had a solid success with the "Venom" series, but that is not the case for "Morbius" and "Madame Web." The results have been poor both at the box office and in terms of criticism, and it has become a meme on the Internet.

In this context, the new film "Kraven the Hunter," which will be released simultaneously in Japan and the United States on December 13, 2024, is also a villain creation film that depicts one of Spider-Man's nemesis in the original comics. Director J.C. Chandor spoke on behalf of the fans on Comicbook.com. "I think some of the fans, many of the fans who are deeply immersed in this world, are angry about certain decisions and certain results that have been made in the last two or three years, to be honest." Chander continued, "Still, other films have been very successful.

In other words, the success rate is mixed," and appealed to people to enjoy "Kraven the Hunter" with a new feeling. "I want everyone to give it a chance. I want people to come and see this movie and support it. I'm literally going to forget about the other films that came before. Give this movie a chance." In Sony Pictures' Marvel films, too much attention is often paid to how the characters and stories will be related to Spider-Man in the future. In particular, in "Morbius," there were some parts where the efforts to meet such expectations were unsuccessful.

In the pre-promotion of "Kraven the Hunter," such production is extremely modest. If the movie goes well, there is a possibility that it will lead to a confrontation with Spider-Man or a villain team "Sinister Six" project, but director Chandor explains that he pursued the fun of it as a standalone work as follows. "If you watch the movie, you will understand that I did everything I could to provide a pretty fun story. After watching this movie, you will understand that there is a possibility that a lot of things can happen from now on. But my goal was to make this movie independent, protect it, and just make a good story. That way, I think there will be opportunities to do a lot of fun things."

To be clear, J.C. Chandor is not involved in the previous works of the series but is simply conveying the feelings of the fans that they should enjoy "Kraven the Hunter" with a fresh feeling and support it. I hope that, as the director intended, it will be an action movie that can be enjoyed without any distractions. Anyway, let's look forward to seeing it in the theater. The movie "Kraven the Hunter" will be released simultaneously in Japan and the United States on December 13, 2024.
