The cast of the Harry Potter film saga is one of the most recognizable and most beloved of the nerd imagination. But, while Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and others have accompanied fans from the first to the last chapter, growing up with them, other characters have not had the same luck and have been played by multiple actors. These are, obviously, secondary characters with roles that are not too influential on the plot. Did you know, for example, that a Hogwarts student has had the face of four different actresses?

It is Pansy Parkinson, a character that perhaps not everyone will remember, as she has never played a big role in the history of Harry Potter. The girl is part of the Slytherins and is one of Draco Malfoy's henchmen, together with Crabbe and Goyle. At Hogwarts, she is one of the leaders of her house and one of Draco's biggest supporters in all his bullying: in fact, it is understood that she has a soft spot for him, not by chance the two attend the Yule Ball together in Goblet of Fire.

You probably haven't noticed, given the marginal role she is given, but Pansy Parkinson has been played by four different actresses. Katherine Nicholson is the "original" Pansy in the first two films, The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, but she is not even mentioned in the official cast list, appearing only as an extra. For the third chapter, however, the character was played by Genevieve Gaunt, while Lauren Shotton took over in Order of the Phoenix, in which Pansy appears only in the background and does not even have a single line. Finally, Scarlett Byrne is the actress who has played this part the longest, having played Pansy in the last three films.

Curiously, the character does not appear at all in Goblet of Fire, which is also the book where she has the largest role. Some, however, believe that the actress Charlotte Ritchie, who plays a generic female extra from Slytherin House, is actually Pansy Parkinson, even if it is not specified in the credits. Have you ever noticed this multiple recast? Know that it is not the only one in the Harry Potter saga: among the characters who have "changed face" most often there are also, for example, the Patil twins and Lavender Brown.
