Netflix has officially renewed Outer Banks for a fifth season, which will also be the series’ final season. The news was announced shortly before the second half of season four is set to debut on November 7. Creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke shared the announcement in a special message to fans titled “Dispatch to all Pogues.” In their statement, the trio said they were inspired to create the series in 2017 when they saw a photograph of a group of teenagers on a beach at sunset. “Seven years ago, it seemed impossible to tell the entire story in five seasons, and yet here we are, at the end of season four, still working,” they wrote.

“Season four has been the longest and most challenging to produce, but also the most rewarding. It ends with a special episode, which we believe is our best and most powerful. We hope you feel the same way.” They continue: “Now, with a mixture of sadness and excitement, we prepare to leave the fourth season behind and focus on the fifth, with the hope of concluding the journey of our beloved Pogues as we imagined it years ago. The fifth season will be the last and, in our opinion, the best of all. We hope you join us for one last adventure to the surf break.”

The cast of the fourth season includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez, Mia Challis and Cullen Moss. Outer Banks has been a great success on Netflix. The first half of Season 4 was in the Top 10 English-language series for three consecutive weeks, and the show has spent a total of 27 weeks in the Top 10 since it launched in 2020.

Netflix has also expanded the world of the series with live events. It recently hosted its second “Poguelandia” event in Los Angeles, which was attended by 2,500 fans. The event featured performances by artists such as GloRilla and Remi Wolf, and there were merchandise, photo booths, and other activities available. Netflix also launched the mobile game Netflix Stories: Outer Banks.
