Peacemaker Season 2 Wraps Up

Peacemaker Season 2 has just wrapped up filming, having begun production before the DCU reboot was even made official. The stars and James Gunn announced the news on social media. Some of the cast recently announced that they had wrapped work on the show, but that means filming has officially wrapped ahead of a planned August 2025 launch. A first look is probably still a ways off, though Creature Commandos could provide some clues as to where Christopher Smith’s story is headed.

“And that’s a wrap on Season 2 of [Peacemaker], including our last remaining cast members [Steve Agee], [Tim Meadows], [Sol Rodriguez] [and] [Brandon Stanley] (and our cinematographer Sam McCurdy, pictured here moments after the last shot),” Gunn shared on social media. “Thank you to the entire cast and crew who made this such an amazing experience.” The director added, “My relief at being off filming after ten months straight is outweighed by how much I’ll miss you all!” For those unaware, Gunn worked on Superman and Peacemaker at the same time.

Peacemaker follows the explosive adventures of John Cena’s character, reprised after James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad, an irresistibly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to achieve it. Peacemaker season 2 has assembled an impressive cast that includes John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, and Tim Meadows. Joel Kinnaman is also rumored to appear.

Peacemaker, what we know about season 2

“Peacemaker explores the story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film, Suicide Squad – a man irresistibly boastful who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!” Plot details for season 2 are still largely under wraps, but it will likely revolve around Rick Flag Sr.’s attempt to exact revenge for Peacemaker’s killing of his son Rick Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in The Suicide Squad.
