Following the record-breaking success of Deadpool & Wolverine, fans of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have something new to look forward to. Reynolds is working on a non-Marvel movie that will reunite him with co-star Jackman and director Shawn Levy. Reynolds shared his plans during a recent interview with Variety Awards Circuit Podcast. “I’m spending the year writing,” Reynolds said on the podcast. “I’m writing a movie for me, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy], to do together, that’s not Marvel.”
While the actor has kept plot details under wraps, his excitement has hinted at something fresh and unexpected that he’ll be working on for the next 12 months. It’s unclear if it’s a project that a studio has greenlit. However, given the explosive popularity of Deadpool & Wolverine, this is sure to become one of Hollywood’s most anticipated films. This project will mark Reynolds’ third collaboration with Levy. After the action-packed Deadpool 3, the duo previously teamed up for 2021’s blockbuster action comedy Free Guy and sci-fi adventure The Adam Project. Their shared track record of creating box office gold has made for a strong creative chemistry, with Levy bringing out Reynolds’ comedic energy and memorable performances.
A Successful Trio: Shaw Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman
Ryan Reynolds, fresh off his second consecutive Primetime Emmy win for the popular docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham,” continues to build a multifaceted career that balances commercial success with critical acclaim. Jackman received his first Oscar nomination and first Golden Globe win for his musical role as Jean Valjean in “Les Misérables.” Meanwhile, Levy received his first Oscar nomination as a producer for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi thriller “Arrival” (2016) and earned four Emmy nominations for his work on the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.”
