Zack Snyder is ready to dive into a new film project, this time focusing on an intense action story set inside the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The director, known for his work on films such as 300 and Army of the Dead, is writing the script for the film with his longtime collaborator Kurt Johnstad, with whom he has previously worked on projects such as Atomic Blonde and 300. The film, currently without an official title, follows an elite LAPD unit navigating the daily dangers of a high-stakes world, dealing with the conflict between law and morality.

The synopsis promises a visceral and gripping experience, a tale that focuses on the moral and ethical challenges that the members of such a special team must face. The project is still in early development and will be produced by Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Wesley Coller under their Stone Quarry banner, which has previously worked with Netflix on the director's previous works, such as Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead. The director has stated that he is excited to explore this story, noting that the idea of telling a compelling, character-driven drama within the intense and complex landscape of the LAPD has always been a passion of his.

Snyder also mentioned that the idea was born in a conversation with Dan Lin, another producer on the project, years ago, and that he now feels ready to finally make it happen. The film marks the latest collaboration between Stone Quarry and Netflix, which recently saw the release of the two-part Rebel Moon. While Rebel Moon has not received much critical acclaim, with some reviewers calling the film "derivative", Zack Snyder does not seem to be affected by the negative reviews. "The reaction to my films has always been very polarizing," he said.
